How to pick a good SEO company

With mobile searches for something nearby leading to 76% of people visiting a business within one day.” (Google).

You would be a fool to not invest in small business SEO to improve your local traffic.

But I get it, you as a business owner are busy, and you may not have the time to research, and implement SEO on your website.

This is where outsourcing may come in handy, but to make sure that you are getting the most out of your SEO company you need to know a few things first.

In this post we are going to explore 3 tips to help you pick a good SEO company.

Check to see what their experience is

One of the most important questions to ask an agency you are considering is

“What experience have you had in the past?”

Ask them to show you testimonials, reviews or references from previous clients.

This will help you better understand how well they have done for other businesses like yours.

See if they offer reliable customer service

There is nothing worse than having a problem and waiting days for a customer service rep to get back to you, only to not find a solution to your problem.

When selecting an agency to work with, you should ensure that they have a clear phone number and Email.

Also it may be worth testing out the service with something small like an “inquiry email” to see how they respond.

If they do not respond in a timely manner or seem too pushy then you should move on.

As this may indicate that they are too money hungry and will not dedicate time to perform SEO properly.

Ask for a work sample

While hiring an agency may be great there are unfortunately agencies out there that use outdated, ineffective, or malicious methods to perform SEO.

In the SEO field we call this “black-hat SEO” and if not checked can seriously ruin your website.

So before you sign on the dotted line, ask for a work sample, have them send you an example of content that they have done for a client.

This will help you gauge the quality of their work, their understanding of your industry, and their level of expertise.

When in doubt, start small

If you’ve followed these tips and are still leary about working with an agency, then when in doubt it is always better to start with small projects and test them out.

That way you can determine if they are the right fit and work out any kinks before signing on for something more substantial.
